It is all change at the top of the betting market for the Bresmed Northern Sprint after a night of shocks in the semi-finals over 280 metres at Sheffield.
National Sprint winner Scolari Sound was the first beaten favourite but unlike the others he survives until next week’s final.
David Pruhs’ runner could only finish second to all the way winner Suirside Leah.
Lynn Cook’s bitch blasted out of the boxes and was soon clear to score by a length and a half in 15.85sec.
Ante-post favourite Walshes Hill was 4-5 for the second qualifier but he failed to come away in his best fashion and got no run around the opening turn.
Meanwhile as the field approached the first turn Glenanore Ace, trained by Kevin Hutton, hit the front and went on to beat Damson Jam by a length in 16.00sec.
Walshes Hill’s trainer Jimmy Wright had more misfortune with Target Harris, who was the 6-4 favourite for the third eliminator when a moderate break and an unsuitable wide draw proved his undoing.
Meanwhile Carla Hendy’s Cloncunny Ardera was soon clear and he went on to beat local runner Worsboro Spirit by a length and a half in 15.98sec.
Draw for the final:
1 Damson Jam
2 Worsboro Spirit
3 Suirside Leah
4 Scolari Sound
5 Glenanore Ace
6 Cloncunny Ardera (m)
