Fit Right was a surprise 6-1 winner of the Stadium Bookmakers Standards Final over 500 metres at Nottingham on Monday night.
David Pruhs’ dog who is normally a slow starter, turned in third place and flew down the back straight to pass the favourite La Maqina and Solvitas Rocket on the third turn.
From there he went onto beat Solvitas Rocket by a length and a half in 29.93sec.
Another Pruhs trained Dark Entries runner caused a surprise in the Betfred Maiden Sprint Final over 305 metres.
Hiya Butt went to traps the 2-5 favourite after clocking the fastest time of the year in last week’s heats but dwelt at the start and hit the rail at the first turn.
The race went to Dark Entries, who made just about all to hold Dragon IntheSky by half a length in 18.01sec.
Owner Sean Hickey said: “I didn’t think we had a chance with the favorite but he got it all wrong and my fella did it all right.”
Steve Race’s La Termino made quite an impression in the 500 metre Puppy Standard race when he pulled clear from the opening turn to score by over five lengths in 29.76sec, the fastest of the night.
Leos Electra went fastest in the Betfred Maiden Dual Distance Trophy over 480 metres.
Jane White’s bitch, formerly called Droopys Darara, pulled clear from the turn and scored by over ten lengths in 28.67sec.
The other heat went to Steve Race’s Ballymac Elvis, who got clear by the opening turn to register a five and a quarter length victory in 28.94sec.
Pennys Rock set the standard in the Stadium Bookmakers Sprint heats over 305 metres when flying out and making all to beat Tranquility by two lengths in 17.60sec.
Newinn Smash justified favouritism in division two when making all to beat Silvio Scolari by almost four lengths in 17.91sec.
