Wimbledon’s Owners Association have announced their 2015 award winners.
Dog of the Year was Notting Hill Lil (Mountleader Matt-Cleanaway Misty, Apr 13) who had been in fine form until going lame in September. Owned by Mr MA Byrne and trained by Tony Taylor he had won 11 of his previous 27 at the track.
Bitch of the Year was School Bell (Tubbertelly Dubh-School Picture, Aug 12), trained by Richard Rees for the owners club of the same name. The black worked her way winning every graded from A7 to A2 inclusive.
Veteran of the Year was Ron Peckover’s Shilohs Battle (Bruce Ali-Shiloh Princess, Nov 09) whose 129 race career ended in August.
The Dog Grader of the Year was Opening Lucere (Tyrur Big Mike-Tyrur Monica, Feb 13) owned by Ms LA Canham and trained by Bernie Doyle.
The Bitch Grader of the Year was Tom Levers’ Up Up Away (Crash-Sheeraghs Beauty, Oct 11) who won nine races. Puppy of the Year was Rathduff Max (Premier Fantasy-Kilara Duchess, Jul 13) owned by Miss J Secular and trained by Brian Nicholls.
There were two special awards: Longmeadow Tash owned by the Honest But Poor Syndicate and trained by Richard Rees and the locally handled St.Leger winner Fizzypop Buddy (Tubbertelly Dubh-Saleen Queen), trained by June Harvey and owned by Mr PM Madden.
