Sheffield boss John Gilburn was very satisfied with what will apparently be Brian Harrison’s final promotion for Britain’s Combined Greyhound Sale on Sunday.
Gilburn said: “There was a good crowd of around 200 people but it didn’t start very well when none of the first seven on the bench were sold, though one of them ultimately changed changed hands. But then things really picked up and I think we ended up selling 37 out of 47.
“The top lot was Born To Please (Wise Thought-Benghazi Babe, Jun 15) who was sold to Trevor Draper for 7,200 guineas. He looked an exceptional pup when he trialled immediately after a rain storm but before the track had been re-graded in 29.26. There were a lot of other very good young pups and it was certainly well worth doing.
“Going forward, we would probably like to hold a couple of sales each year but perhaps looks to incorporate technology such as webcasts and other innovations in the future.”
