Sheffield RM Andrew Mascarenhas was delighted with the 55 runner entry for the advertised 36 runner BresBet City Cup, though admits it left him with a headache.
He said: “It’s a nice problem to have though obviously I realise that we will be disappointing a number of connections which is always disappointing. I’ve done my best to ensure that we have accepted the best qualified, most of whom have been around here recently and we are fortunate enough to have a decent selection of seeds, which doesn’t always happen.”
As for a winner?
“I’ve been away for the last week and haven’t seen all the trials, but I did see Signet Ace in his first trial and I was very impressed with him.”
The Bresbet Steel City Cup gets underway on Saturday and concludes a fortnight later with a final worth £8,000 and every finalist guaranteed £1,000. The semis and final also coincide with the £3,000 Brinkleys Poet At Stud Young Guns.
