It is a case of ‘count the Cat One winners’ – there are four in the first heat alone. The second heat features the reigning Kent Derby winner, taking on the dual Cat One winner and English Derby favourite . . . . not bad for a competition that failed to fill!
Sunday’s Arena Racing Company Kent Plate – over the track’s highly rated 500 metre course – only attracted 28 entries though the calibre of the runners is absolutely outstanding.
Why only 24 runners? Sounds like a few probables bottled it.
