For Liz McNair – think Seamus Cahill
There might only be 49 entries for the 75th Two Year Old Produce Stakes but there is no shortage of open class form with Hove trainer Cahill supplying double digit entries headed by Star Sports English Puppy Derby winner Surprising and litter sister Pocket Lola.
In addition there have been a number of impressive trialists including Baggios Champ (28.47), Baron Orion (28.56), Signet Miller (28.77), Shockwave Onyx (28.56), plus the Cahill pair already mentioned, Surprising (28.54) and Pocket Lola (28.45). Others, like Kevin Hutton’s Barnard, who won impressively at Doncaster on Monday, already have decent race form over the 470m.
One of the most interesting is the Dave Firmager bred Fabulous Azurra who made a huge impression at Limerick earlier in the year when clocking 28.26 for 525 yards.
So far, no decision has been made as to how to split up the runners for an event originally designed for 72 entries. The first round is next Thursday September 2.
The final, scheduled for Sunday September 19 carries a first prize of £13K, with excellent supporting prizes including £2,000 to the winning breeder.
