Yesterday’s Yarmouth sales contained a rather large catalogue of 53 greyhounds, however this was only a demonstration of the demand for greyhounds on the East coast with 49 of them finding new homes at a sales success rate of 92%!

On what was a fine and sunny day, dogs arrived for kennelling at 8am with trials then soon commencing at 10.15am.

Set to run were a majority of 2021 whelps and even a few 2022 whelps, and it wasn’t long for those in attendance to give forgiveness to the many greyhounds running wide around the first and second bends at what is a notoriously difficult venue to run first time.

Fastest run of the day was produced by October 2021 whelp Johnnie Three who produced a 28.56 clock in Trial 18. An astoundingly bred dog by Skywalker Canny out of SPK 850y Night of Stars winning bitch Skywalker Rossa and he sold in the room to Colin Finch for £5100.

Top lot however went to the December 2021 whelp Easy Alpha, who clocked 28.61 when winning his trial by 21 1/2 lengths.

A son of Droopys Noah and Julies Chloe, his trial comments included Crd1 and VW2 which caught the attention of those in the room.

Eventually, he was bought for a sales topping £6000 and will start his racing career in the duly capable hands of Belinda Green.

Other notable sales on the day include Droopys Cobbler (£4400), Puckane Bale (£3300) and Rapido Moon (£3000).

Overall, sales on the day amounted to £77,400 at an average price of over £1600!

Nathan Corden said “Our thanks must go to Yarmouth as everything ran like clockwork and the staff could not do enough for us, so I was pleased to see about 35 of the greyhounds stay at the track with their attached trainers.
“The sales are going well at the moment and currently I’m receiving 2 or 3 requests each and every week from new vendors wanting to join us. Our next sale at Oxford on 18th May is already full but we will look to see what we can do with the volume of sales from August onwards in an effort to assist these potential new vendors.”
