Nathan Hunt’s BANG ON HARRY comes into tonight’s opening race at 609pm having won 2 from his last 3 over tonight’s course and distance. He was a peach of a draw to work from on the wide outside and given anything like a start will take a world of beating. He can make it 1-0 to the punters from the get go and have the bookmakers on a retrieval mission immediately.
Patrick Janssens CROSSFIELD LEXI has just the 1 win on her card from 13 career starts and that came early on in her career over at Clonmel in Ireland. She’s shown plenty of pace and there will be plenty wanting to take her on given the aforementioned record tonight but really the 575m Maiden Stayers heat which she lines up in at 643pm should be there for the taking. She can find herself a lot closer to the action that usual and that can be key to a bitch wouldn’t be the cleverest in passing at least at this stage. Short enough but it’s tough to see Lexi not getting her UK career up and running.
David Mullins EXVE DELTA has been handled extremely well to progress through the grades from A10 to A3 in recent months and looks nicely drawn to take this A3/4 Sweepstake Final at 736pm. Drawn a little wider than he’d ideally like in trap 4 he really should be leading round the turn in this field with anything like one of his usual starts. There are a few strong running sorts in this field and the danger could be one of them dropping a little too close for comfort but at the same time Delta doesn’t stop in front and with a little crowding in behind more than a possibility with a number of these likely to hit the bend together he could very well be away and gone beyond recall by the time they hit the back straight.
The main event of the evening at 854pm as the greyhound’s head to traps for the £20,000 to the winner Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes Final. Liz McNair’s WARZONE TIME will rightfully line up as a strong odds-on favourite having set a new track record in a stunning semi-final win. He’s definitely drawn a little nearer the rail here than would be ideal but with 4 wide seeds drawn to his outside he should have little difficulty in plotting his own chosen course. The one slight concern would be that Tom produced a final winning performance a week too soon. How often have we seen big final winners go on to have a difficult time soon after and the thought of some is that this Liz McNair trained greyhound may just have peaked a little early. That taken into consideration he should still have too much and though we might not see him quite at his sensational best he should still emerge victorious to land the spoils.
