Ladbrokes have started work on a £250,000 works programme to renew the drainage, substructure and sand at Crayford. A statement from the company reads:
The work, fully funded by Ladbrokes, follows on from the £200K increase to prize money this year and demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to greyhound racing at their two tracks.
Head of Stadia, Richard Brankley, said “This is great news for everyone connected to Crayford. The existing track has been staging racing for the off-course betting industry and exciting local race goers for the last 30 years. This investment will allow that to continue for the next 30 years. We are fortunate to have a committed core of trainers and owners who deserve the very best in facilities and prize money. I am delighted that Jason Begg and his team who have successfully completed similar projects at Newcastle and Sunderland stadium are undertaking the work.”
Disruption to trainers and race goers is being kept to a minimum. The track will close for only 5 days from 17th July, with racing resuming on Friday evening 22nd July.
