Towcester Racing Manager Andy Lisemore has opted to transfer some of the local Derby Trialstake entries to graded races on the Saturday morning after being swamped with runners for Sunday’s afternoon card.
He said: “Apologies to the locals, but something had to give. So we’ve put on three races on Saturday for the locals who entered for Sunday. That gives runs to those 17 with 84 places taken up with the 14 race Sunday card.”
Although not all the trialstake runners will seek a place in the 192 starters in a fortnight’s time, it is a sobering thought that 51 of last weekend’s 82 runners hadn’t even appeared on the list of over 200 hounds listed in the ante post betting.
