Yarmouth’s traditional Easter re-awakening saw good crowds at the Caister Road venue where they faced an instant price rise.

Promoter Simon Franklin said: “Our prices did go up, but we also introduced a loyalty card offering free admission for every sixth visit for our regulars.

“So regulars actually got a small decrease though the whole thing was greeted with a lot of grumbling.

“Nobody likes price rises but I am from the school that thinks we sell the product too cheap.

“Overall it was a very good Easter, though that might have as much to do with changes in school holiday patterns as anything else. Certainly February and March were very quiet compared to last year.”

On the graded front, the racing office were patting themselves on the back following the last BAGS race on Wednesday’s card.

It resulted in a dead-heat between Battyhill Dawn (4-1) and Rays Eagle (7-2). The remaining distances were: hd, ½, sh, sh
