Heat 1 Newinn Shadow (Kinloch Brae-Newinn Expert, Dec 14) went to traps as the 6-4f in the opening heat of the Classic. He was drawn in orange, clocked the night’s fastest sectional (4.91) and would be followed home by Forest Chunk (T2 5-1) and defending champ Roxholme Scolari (T4 7-2). Time 26.96   3 3/4, 3

Heat 2 HAYDEEZFLYER (Paradise Madison-Highview Idol, Apr 15) completed a double for Charlie Lister in the second heat. The 7-2 chance (T2) made the most of early trouble involving Along Came Finn (T6), Knockard Spring (T3) and Kneejerkreaction (T4) and came home well clear of Wildfire Legend (T1 7-4f) and Russelena Planet (T5 4-1). Time 27.43   9, 1 1/2

Heat 3 TOOLMAKER OBAMA (Drumcrow Obama-Satin Bridie, Jun 15) was the 14-1 outsider in the third heat. Robert Gleeson’s runner seized the initiative in a dual with Droopys Country (T6 4-5f) who led narrowly. But the Irish runner (T3) refused to yield and it was Ballymac Claus (T5 10-1) who ran on for second Time 27.12   1 1/4, 1/2

Heat 4 CORRIN BOYSHANE (Shaneboy Lee-Corrin Minnie, Aug 14) trapped well in the black jacket with favourite Cometwopass (T1) slow away on the rail but well placed. However Peter Cronin’s even money chance kept going straight at the first bend and was soon struggling. The 4-1 leader was never troubled and led home Wildfire Lord (T5 33-1) and Azzurri Genesis (T3 6-1) for a £343 tricast. Time 26.91   8 1/2, 3

Heat 5 AMEILIAS CHARM (Droopys Scolari-Dundrum Lemon, Aug 14) winner of her last two A1 and with a 27.08 on her card was flawless in the fifth heat. The blue jacketed 5-1 chance was run to within half a length by Barricane Jack (T3 5-1) with Parkers Dynamite (T1 2-1f) running on for third. Time 27.33   1/2, 3 3/4

Heat 6 DOROTAS DEL MAR (Ballymac Vic-Droopys Danneel, May 15) was opposed in the betting by brother Dorotas Hooligan (T2 4-5f) but the latter looked ill at ease at the first bend Del Mar (T1 5-1)  took up the running. The danger Viking Jimmy (T6 8-1) ran on gamely with Farloe Thor (T5 -2) running on for third. Time 27.27   1/2,  2 1/2
