Former Wimbledon and White City trainer Tom Foster, who trained so many stars for Ricky Holloway, reckoned it took six months to make a seasoned hurdler. Turnhouse Jet, disqualified on the flat at Newcastle last October, showed he is as good as any in training by winning the RPGTV Champion Hurdle at Central Park on Sunday night.

Ricky Holloway’s runner, who reached the Grand National Final but went 14 races without a victory, was looking to complete a four-timer in the £8,000 decider and never put a paw wrong.

His winning time was 29.59 on going rated .50 slow for the 480m hurdle course.

Holloway said: “The best hurdlers in the country were in the race. To do it again is absolutely brilliant. I said from the beginning that he was as good as Lenson Wilson and he just wouldn’t do it. And suddenly he is the finished article.”
