Two tracks records and almost a third provided a cracking undercard to Central Park’s National/Derby meeting on Tuesday.

The first to go was the 500m record which was not so much broken as shattered by King Eden (Droopys Scolari-Shaws Dilemma, Dec 14). The British bred blue, who broke the Doncaster 483m clock back in August, took 29 spots off Toolatetosell’s previous best with a run of 29.46 (N).

On a great night for Patrick Janssens, he won three opens including the Kent Derby, kennelmate Slick Strauss (Tullymurry Act-Swift Sapphire, May 14) set a new standard for the 893m trip. The 7-2 chance caught Meadow – which was bred by Janssens – to win by half a length in 56.24 – some 25 spots inside Aayamzabella’s previous best.

Over the standard, Seamus Cahill’s Sporting Dave (Ballymac Vic-Sporting Dame, Dec 15) was one spot outside Coolavanny Bert’s track record with a 28.51 run.
