The Greyhound Olympic has its origins at Wandsworth in 1947 before moving onto Charlton and then Hove.

Among the famous winner of the event are the great Dante II, Supreme Fun, Ballyregan Bob, Westmead Chick and Droopys Buick, to name but five. In the 14 finals between 1995 and 2008, locals won 13 (8- Brian Clemenson, 5- Derek Knight), though there is only one local representative this evening in Shoot The Bolt.
