Seamus Cahill’s puppy Droopys Gold (Loughteen Blanco-Droopys Force, Sep 15) produced the performance of the night at HOVE on Thursday.

Going for a four-timer, the orange jacketed blue 4-5f was never challenged on his way to a near eight length victory in 27.49 (N) – a mere seven lengths outside kennelmate Forest Con’s track record.

The time was also 37 spots quicker (before going allowance) than Droopys Griesman (Forest Master-Droopys Twirl, Aug 15) in the night’s £500 stake decider. Paul Young’s runner turned over Dean Childs’ brace of Droopys, Jester and Georgio by a length and half a length.

Next week’s sprint final should be equally as tight with only a couple of lengths separating five of the finalists.

At MONMORE, the bookies had the best of the results in the night’s three opens. Biggest of the lot was Movealong Ken (Crash-Movealong Dawn, Aug 14) who followed up a 10-1 win at Nottingham with a 28.69 (-30) victory when returning at 9-2. John Spracklen’s Moreton Volare (Ace Hi Rumble-Kingsmill Athena, Apr 13) followed up a 12-1 win with a 4-1 victory in 38.36 (-30) for the 630 metres. While locally trained Droopys Turin (Blonde Snapper-Droopys Valerie, Jul 13) previous form with La Brava to clock the fastest time of the night – 28.44 (-20)
