Impending new arrival Brian Thompson gave an indication of the quality the track can expect next year when Awe Struck (Royal Impact-Gold Supreme, Apr 14) produced the performance of the night at MONMORE on Thursday.

Making his staying debut, the white and black dog was made the even money favourite and ran like a good thing, clocking 38.15 (-40) for the 630m.

The meeting also featured a particularly impressive 480 performance from Ernie Skeech’s Faughan Flash (Paradise Madison-Ballyhill Beauty, Jun 14). The former Mildenhall A5 grader won by nearly six in 28.17 (-20).

Nineteen month old Droopys Perfect (Laughil Blake-Droopys Apr 16) produced the performance of the night at HOVE on Thursday.

Seamus Cahill’s sprinter landed his seventh victory in ten attempts over the track’s 285m trip in his quickest calculated run to date: 16.34 (-15). (To put the run into perspective, former kennel star Jimmy Lollie was four months older before he clocked a similar time.)

It as otherwise a mixed night for the kennel with top stayer Karlow Turbo beaten at 2-5f in a 695m open and Crossfield Giles turned over in a 515m heat at 1-2f. Winner Coolavanny Artur clocked the fastest time of the night – 30.07 (-20).
