Sunderland has switched the dates of its last set of opens before the start of next month’s UK Festival of Racing.
Advertised in the current Calendar to be rum on Saturday, June 27 they have been brought forward 24 hours to Friday, June 26 to avoid a clash with Derby final night at Wimbledon.
There will also be a series of opens at the racecourse on Saturday, June 20, with both racecards featuring races over the distances of the major Festival events – The Classic, the Grand Prix, the Flyer and the Puppy Plate.
A racecourse spokesman said: “We will also do what we can to accommodate trainers looking for trials for their greyhounds, with Friday and Saturday pre-racing sessions preferred, and their will be a special trial session on Monday, June 29, the day before entries for the Classic and Grand Prix close.
