The report in today’s Sunday Mirror newspaper referring to greyhounds being sent to China to meet the most excruciating lives and death, is the most sickening and unacceptable practice to be revealed in a long time.  In talking “ welfare” the Industry must  understand that this must be practiced from start of life of a racing greyhound  to reaching its eventual and happy retirement home.  The animal welfare charities, which make up the Greyhound Forum, have written to the MD of GBGB to ask for an immediate and full report into this deplorable situation.  Forum members also accept that strict sanctions or legislation,  to prevent this happening again must be introduced.  This news is particularly disappointing after the charities had been given an assurance that all ex racers were monitored through to retirement.
