Roxholme Kristof, 1-4 to win tonight’s Leger semi final, and 4-6 to take the competition, suffered a minor injury setback when winning his heat but is not reckoned to be inconvenienced going into tonight’s semi finals.

Kennel spokesman Mark Keightley said: “We have some good equipment here and suspected a slight problem in a shoulder. We took Kristof to George Drake on Saturday, who confirmed it.

“It was nothing serious and was worked on. The only negative was that Hayley wasn’t keen to gallop him on Monday, as she was planning. It isn’t something that is carried out with every dog, but on balance, she felt it wasn’t worth taking the risk. Kristof is 100% fit and ready to go and I honestly don’t think missing one gallop will make a huge amount of difference to his chances.”
