Two outings in three days – time for a bit of squad rotation. We are leaving the ‘strikers in form’ in situ – the Star Sports boys Sam and Martin fresh from their £25 profit on Saturday.

For the owners, Paul Ephremsen had a stinker, but is confident of bouncing back. So to remind him that there is pressure for his shirt, we are giving an understudy a chance too, well known owner Kevin Perisi.

For the media, Hobbsy is being ‘rested’ with Clive Lawrence stepping up for a one-off guest appearance. Clive, is the main who orchestrates the increasingly impressive RPGTV service and litter brother of the tipster who put readers onto a couple of losers while his own runners romped home at big prices, Judas Lawrence. Only kidding Dave 🙂

Speaking of which, the main who trained said runners, Seamus Cahill, makes his first appearances representing the trainers.

The rules remain unchanged – the placing of a fictional £100 on the SKY card, singles or multiples.

Full form is below tips

SAM & MARTIN (Star Sports – bookmakers)

7:31 – Bar The Warrior. Been on the go for a while, covering 7 tracks and only being out the first three twice since 10 March. Well boxed in one and if he displays the early he’s been showing he leads 1st and don’t think he’ll get caught.

8:04 – Drive On Tipp. Another dog that I think could lead first and not get picked up. A very brief Derby campaign came to an end when knocked out in the first round but has been kept fresh with a trial round Hove with a view to going for another comp there.
8:56 – Pacey Bambi. Keeping with the idea of dogs leading first, I’m not sure Pacey Bambi will be stopped here. Perhaps he may be better in three, but if fast enough to the bend then it shouldn’t be a worry. Danzey Exception being the worry and there could be some race on if these two ping ahead of the rest
Good luck to all quarter finalists

PUNTING: £25 Win Trixie: Bar The Warrior (betting 7-4) Drive On Tipp, (betting 10-11f) Pacey Bambi (betting 5-2)

PAUL EPHREMSEN (Owner)

After my dismal performance on Saturday I’ve been given one more chance to restore the faith of the owners. I’m going to keep my selections to the Derby itself but have to say that Dorotas Wildcat looks a real stand-out to win the Derby Plate. He showed incredible pace even when eliminated in his Derby heat. I have 3 selections for the Derby Quarter Final heats.

8:38 – Forest Con : Although performing a miracle to win last time out, Droopys Buick cannot afford to be tardy at the boxes again with some great EP in traps 2 and 3. I have a feeling Buick may find some traffic problems and I fancy Forest Con to get a smoother passage on the outside and use he’s awesome middle pace to maximum effect.
8:56 – Pacey Bambi : The third Quarter Final looks an evenly matched affair but I fancy Pacey Bambi in this one, although the in form Danzey Exception is a big danger. I was not familiar with Bambi before the competition but he’s been faultless and has great pace to the bend. The owners are certainly enjoying the thrill of the Derby and I hope the guy in the (hot) costume is on the podium again tonight!.

9:13 – Hiya Butt Finally I am opposing my outright pick in Tyrur Shay. Although I still think he is a massive contender overall, tonight I’m looking for some value in Hiya Butt on the inside. Hiya Butt has been staying on a lot stronger than I had expected and with a level break he will be a certainty to lead into the bend. With a decent break he could be 3 clear at the bend and it will be a case of catch me if you can.

PUNTING: £50 Win Hiya Butt  (betting 9-2). £40 double Forest Con (betting 3-1) & Pacey Bambi (betting 5-2) £10 treble on all three

KEVIN PERISI (Owner – from off the bench)

7:16 – Dorotas Wildcat: He is the most unlucky loser I have seen in many years of watching the Derby. Level break different speed. Massive runner in the plate. Should be to classy by some margin

9:13 –  Tyrur Shay : Should lead the Jet and have his sights firmly fixed on the Butt’s butt from halfway. He can sail around the outside for another facile win.

PUNTING: £100 double Dorotas Wildcat (betting 8-13f), Tyrur Shay  (betting 9-2)

CLIVE LAWRENCE (Media)

8:11 – Fweshfromthesesh Alfie Herbert’s youngster has shown up well in the Derby so far, notching up a battling win in the first round and performing admirably, on potentially the worst of the going, in the second and third rounds. He is perfectly housed in trap 6 with Shaneboy Freddie in the orange jacket likely to head straight for the rails where Clares Rocket an Bruisers Bullet will be battling it out for a firts bend lead. Given one of his good breaks Fweshfromthesesh should be away and gone

8:38 – Forest Con When, oh when, is Forest Con going to get a good break?  The Ladbrokes Puppy Derby winner oozes class around the bends but always seems to be flirting with danger by arriving at the first turn at potentially the wrong moment.   I think that tonight will be the night when the Seamus Cahill trained star will get a ping break and then even the mighty Droopys Buick wont be able to peg him back

8:56 Murrays Act With an early paced battle on the card between the admirable trio of Pacey Bambi, Droopys Acrobat and Danzey Exception it is imperative that Murrys Act navigates his way around the first bend cleanly. Thereafter, he can set off in pursuit of the three that may well tangle before the third bend leaving an opportunity for the Kevin Boon trained RP Juvenile winner to exploit.

PUNTING: £25 Trixie Fweshfromthesesh, (betting 7-1)  Forest Con (betting 3-1) Murrays Act (betting 7-1)

SEAMUS CAHILL (Trainer)

I am obviously biased and will go with my own runners but I would be quite hopeful. They all came out well from Saturday and I expect them all to perform tonight

8:21 – Astute Missile : He is up against it as a 20-1 shot but I certainly wouldn’t rule him out of a place, particularly if there is any trouble in running, which is why I am going ‘each way’.

8:38 – Forest Con : Buick is obviously the one to beat but there is a lot of pace on the inside and I think Swithins Brae could move in at the traps. We need our dog to do another 5.17 split and I would love to see him lead at the bend, rather than have to come around the outside. He has just about got home but I think he is getting stronger and would like him to find that extra 20 spots;

8:56 Droopys Acrobat: I was surprised that he was picked up last time but he was a little bit up in weight. But he is in good form and I am expecting a decent run.

PUNTING: £15 E/W Astute Missile (betting 20-1), £50 win Forest Con (3-1) £20 win Droopys Acrobat (5-1)
