Tonight’s feature meeting comes from Peterborough and features the local Derby final. Before we unveil this week’s punters, we need to review last week’s effort – which was far from special.

The double booking for the bookies just about scraped home. Jess Packer lumped £60 of his stake on 4-6 winning favourite King Elvis and broke even. Towcester chalk monkey Brian Hoggarth had a £50 each way bet on Savana Donie who finished second at 5-1. We make that an overall profit of £12.50 on the night.

Rab McNair, representing trainers, escaped with a loss of £2-08p and hasn’t slept since. James Rowley (owners) and David Yanez (media) were last seen walking home minus their bus fares.

This week, we have some new faces headed by Andy Parisi, best known for his Azzurri runners. For the media, we have BAGS’ press officer Scott Harvey – judging from his punt, he looks like a percentages man! As the only man to have made a profit last time out, Brian Hogarth returns for the layers.

Representing the trainers for the first time is ‘Mr Peterborough’ David Pruhs. Widely acknowledged as one of the best judges of a hound in the business, David has a runner in the feature event, a race he last won with Frisby Barney in 2013.

The rules remain unchanged – the placing of a fictional £100 on the SKY card, singles or multiples. We quote early prices, but make winning calculations based on SP.

Full form is below tips

BRIAN HOGGARTH (BG Racing – bookmakers)

7.26 – AMELIE JEANIE: She has a 4.38 sectional (in a trial back in March) which should be good enough to lead up here and I know the kennel think she runs well after a few days break. She looks good value at 8-1

8.51 – DARK CRYSTAL: The favourite will obviously take some beating but with SKYBET paying out each way on the first three, I don’t think there are three in the race who will finish in front of her.

PUNTING: £50 E/W (SKYBET) double Amelie Jeanie (8-1), Dark Crystal (7-1)

ANDY PARISI (Owner)

7:11 – Tullymurry Sid looks a nice young prospect and has the draw on the outside

7:59 – Geelo Bullet should be able to slip clear from it’s inside draw and make all

8.51: Maireads Ivy  I could not go against her as DK’s assistant and partner Maria would not be happy- lol. But she is a classy bitch and you can’t oppose her.

9.08 Hiya Butt You’ve got to take your hat off to connections. He’s a credit to them and even if he were to miss his start by half a stride , I think he has a enough in his engine to get in front before the corner and that will be race over.

PUNTING: £20 win singles and a £20 accumulator: Tullymurry Sid (Evens), Geelo Bullet (13-8), Maireads Ivy (2-5), Hiya Butt (8-11),

SCOTT HARVEY (Media)

9:08 – Hiya Butt: Its hard to see beyond Hiya Butt given the way the draw has worked out. With Kooga Klammer likely to move middle from traps, and with the wide running Angry Man drawn T4, Hayley Keighley’s model of consistency could have this race put to bed by the first bend. The Derby campaign appears to have taken little out of him, and he really does deserve Category success here. of the others Viking Jimmy looks well drawn, but still has a bit to find on the clock if he is to trouble the selection

PUNTING: £100 win Hiya Butt (8-11)

DAVID PRUHS (Trainer)

I have only backed one dog tonight, in the first race on TV, the puppy race.

As far as the rest of the card is concerned, there are quite a few tricky ones. I almost went for Russanda Rubin (8.33) of Jim Hayton’s, who ran very well last week. I would just be a bit hesitant in that it is his first race back over four bends after lameness.

As far as the final is concerned, I am reasonably hopeful with our dog Kooga Klammer. I would have preferred the three with him, but then I wouldn’t want to be on the outside of Thomas Golden. Two isn’t a bad draw. We did consider switching him to rails, but it was the prospect of getting one that put me off. It can be quite a difficult draw at Peterborough.

Our dog is in very good order and if he does come away, he could give Hiya Butt a run, though that is in no way underestimating the favourite who is a genuine class act.

7:11 – Tullymurry Sid is my only bet of the night. The race looks made for him as the only wide runner and he runs Peterborough as well as any greyhound I have seen on the track in years. He reminds me of Micks Rover. A couple of runs ago we backed a bitch of ours, as they went to the bend I thought, ‘we will take a couple of lengths off him here, but we came out of the bend two behind him! I took the 11-10 about him and am happy enough with that.

PUNTING: £100 win Tullymurry Sid (Evens)
