Kilmore Lemon made it six in a row and nine from his last ten outings with an emphatic victory in the Ladbrokes Guy And Dolls Final.

Patrick Janssens 1-2f broke level but showed his characteristic early pace to take the lead on the run to the first bend. He eventually opened up a near five length lead to beat the Dolls semi final winner Special Story in 22.89. The winner’s time was half a length outside Brinkleys Poet’s track record – the deficit being the slower sectional time.

Winning trainer Janssens said: “I am delighted for Kevin Oates and the other three owners of the dog. He doesn’t really run the Crayford bends, he was clear of the one at the first bend but she caught him up by the second bend, but ‘two to three’ he took probably four lengths out of her.

“We’ve decided to go for the Yarmouth Derby with him. He doesn’t really get the 462m but he is a 23.55 dog for 400m at Romford which would put him well clear of most dogs. How well does he have to stay the last four seconds?”

It is now three months since the Thetford based trainer switched his operation from Towcester to Central Park but he has no regrets.

He said: “I said at the time that I was frustrated at not getting my runners out at Towcester, but Central Park is a completely different proposition. Nothing is too much trouble and they have delivered on everything they promised.

“The journey is an hour and three quarters, but it is a better trip than to Towcester, M11-M25-M2, and I would generally only be making it twice a week depending on how the open races work out.”
