Pinpoint Den produced his best performance and only win in the event when landing the final of the Betfred Steel City Cup.

Kelly Macari’s middle seed was forced to run from stripes in the Sheffield 500m final, as the only non-railer.But form students would have known that that last time it occurred, in the first round, Den came within a fraction of a length of clearing the early paced Candlelight Fire. This time the 7-2 chance popped clear and was able to dominate. He was pursued by Tynwald Baz who found no gaps when he made his challenge, though with a winner’s time of 28.56, his best of the event, there could be no doubting that Den thoroughly deserved his three length £7,500 first prize.
