Prior to the Kinsley leg of the BAGS/SIS Track Championship, Newcastle’s Ian Walton suggest he would love to bag 40 points on his trip to Yorkshire – it could not have gone worse. It was great rivals Sheffield who came out on top, despite one void race, with a magnificent 41 points. Newcastle finished last with only 27 and must now head to Owlerton with the narrowest of leads.
Sheffield nabbed a treble courtesy of Ballymac Sheehy (dogs), Geelo Gaga (sprint) and Fault Finder (elite). Sunderland pulled off a double with Roeview Netty (juvenile) and Polenia (standard) with Belle Vue’s Cathys Sky taking the bitches event.
Roeview Netty (t3) gets Sunderland off to a good start in the Youngsters, just beating Headford Sky (t1) for a first bend lead before leading home Apostle (t4) and Headleys Candy (t5). Photo: Steve Nash
Carl Perry’s Sheffield runner Geelo Bullet is clear on the first circuit in the Stayers, but drama is unfolding in the background with his handler about to step onto the track a lap early and causing a void race. Photo: Steve Nash
FAULT FINDER wins the Elite in a fastest of the day 27.23 to give Sheffield their third win from the six races (Stayers voided). Photo: Steve Nash
