Shawfield racing manager Daniel Rankin is hoping to have the paperwork in place over this weekend for his first dozen owner trainer licenses.

He said: “We have twelve or thirteen guys expected here on Friday or Saturday night. I will go through the forms with them so they can be sent off straight away to GBGB. It could well be more, there were plenty of others who showed an interest but were waiting for details of what was involved. It is a great start; even ten more runners means a couple of extra races a week for us.”

Anyone considering taking out an owner trainer licence – an opportunity to train up to two greyhounds without the requirement for kennels – is advised to contact their local track for further details. The application forms are expected to be delivered today. Greyhounds will be eligible to run qualifying trials for their handlers from February 1.
