Quivers Puma (Skywalker Puma-Quivers Point, May 14) completed a 143-1 open race treble when landing the £1,000 Summer Trophy at CRAYFORD on Saturday night.

Katie O’Flaherty’s 9-2 shot led up in the 540 metre decider and then held off Arun Green’s Tinas Paddy to win by half a length in 33.85 (+30).

Track record holder Drumkeen Oyster (Hondo Black-Eyepad, Aug 13), the last runner to defeat Coolavanny Rebel over course and distance took full advantage of the track champion’s absence to land a 480m open at PERRY BARR on Saturday. The Carla Hendy trained runner who spent 14 months off the track, returned a time of 28.53.

Most impressive performance of the night though was puppy Calico Ranger (Holdem Spy-Wont Fall Behind, Aug 15) with a last to first win in a career best 28.45 . . .

There were doubles for Heather Dimmock and Angela Harrison at SUNDERLAND on Saturday though the performance of the night surely went to the latter’s Droopys Expert (Greenwell Hawk-Droopys Rhiona, Oct 15).

Contesting only his third race, the pup covered the 450m in 26.81 (N) the fastest time of the year. At a better time comparison would be the the 27.46 winning time of Ginas Blue (Droopys Scolari-Dundrum Lemon, Aug 14) or the 27.10 of Droopys Country (Aero Majestic-Droopys Coast, Aug 14).
