Trevor Jameson was left with an almost pleasing poser after Satin Mark’s victory in the final of the PinPoint Recruitment Trophy at Pelaw Grange on Sunday … where to run the April 2013 son of Ace Hi Rumble and Kingsmill Athena next.

The dog led the field into the back straight and he was soon gone beyond recall, running out a five and a quarter-length winner from Bit View Turbo in 25.94 for the 435 metres, his second win in two starts since arriving at the Stockton-on-Tees handler’s kennel and there lies the rub.

“There were some of the best dogs at the track in that field,” commented Jameson, “so I think that I will have to look at opens for him now. His first trial for me was moderate, but the other two were good and after he won his heat I thought he would land the final and I backed him.

“I might have considered the Three Steps To Victory for him if I had a bit more time, but he has not been to Sheffield or been tried over six bends although I think he will stay all right. There is another PinPoint-sponsored race at Newcastle next month, which is handy for me, so I might just have a look at that.”

The final of the BMW Windows Handicap saw the Stephen Francis-trained Black Teak get it right at the right time. Runner-up in her heat and semi-final, the bitch, off two metres, came with a strong run in the closing stages to snatch victory from Spiders Web by a head in a calculated 26.74.
