Runaway leaders Romford finished last on their trip to Poole for the BAGS/SIS Track Championship (Southern) but with closest rivals Hove only gaining a net four points, the Essex boys and girls moved a step closer to the inevitable place in the final.

The leaders kicked off with a maximum in the opening event won by Sneezys Martin (youngsters), their only win of the afternoon. The hosts (two in each race) achieved on maximum in the dogs event won by Jo Burridge’s Skyjack from Fernisky Express, and a double with kennelmate Ninja Turbo in the standard. Hove (and Seamus Cahill) sent out two winners in Jumeirah Maximus (sprint) and Cork Falcon (elite). Central Park’s Jimbobjoe (stayers) was the day’s most impressive winner. Crayford’s sole victory came from Quiver Cindy in the bitches races.
