Romford Generic july 2015Romford continued to pile on the pressure with an impressive home leg of the BAGS/SIS Track Championship on Thursday afternoon. The Essex Boys began the day in second place to Crayford whose 64 points in their home leg was way short of the ‘par score’ of around 70.

Romford took full advantage to rack up a magnificent 83 points including four wins and two 1-2 maximums. The star of the day was Ernie Gaskin’s 4-1 chance Mankoya Tim in the Standard Elite who clocked a career best 23.69 for the 400m.

Kennelmate Hunter Ben and Wednesday Adam took a maximum in the Standard (23.95). David Mullins’ Bornamassa Tom (11-4) and Paul Young’s Chilli Squid (4-1) also landed a 17-pointer in the Stayers (35/50). The other local victory belonged to Phil Simmonds’ Quantum (2-1f) in the bitches race.

Crayford raised their game with two wins from Katie O’Flaherty: Coolruss Patch (youngsters 11-4) and Burgess Import (Dogs 7-1) with Portumna Socks (sprint 11-8f) the only winner for Hove (39 points).

It was a shocking day for Poole with six lasts and a fifth (8 points) with Central Park (24 points) giving themselves a Kent mountain to climb. The next leg is at Hove on October 14.
