The Golden Sprint is now becoming a distant memory with the well deserved Clondoty Alex taking the spoils for trainer Mark Wallis and connections justifying favourite status.

The action doesn’t stop there though and with fourteen open races on show tonight and twelve on Racing Post TV there is plenty of great races and value to be had. A Maiden stayers competition over 575 metres starts tonight and yours truly has found out more about one greyhound in each heat.

Dog Of God in the opening heat at 7.29pm could win over the Romford 575 metres trip at the first time of asking for Crayford trainer Mark Fenwick. The June ’14 whelp has won over 400 metres in a calculated time of 24.37 with a sectional time of 3.80. With her decent early pace the daughter of Premier Fantasy and Tyra Cool could build up a decent lead and with a bit of fortune in running could be worth a shot at 13/2 Bet365 are offering.

Trainer Mark Fenwick on Dog Of God said: “She won around Romford over 400 metres and after that race thought she would stay 575 metres. I think she will stay but she needs to lead as she will not come from behind. She stays very well at Crayford over 540 metres so 575 metres at Romford should not be a problem.

“She has a bad draw as she needs the rails and her trapping is her Achilles heel as she can be erratic from the boxes but if she leads she has every chance.”

Carrowkeal Monty has been snapped up by Juvenile winning trainer Kevin Boon and makes his Romford debut tonight at 7.46pm over the six bend trip in the second heat of the maiden stayers competition. The May ’14 whelp has mainly been running at Yarmouth over 462 metres in top grade company winning seven races from nineteen at the track. With his early pace and if he stays the son of Blackstone Gene and Spur Joey could be shedding his maiden tag over six bends at the first time of asking.

Trainer Kevin boon on him said: “I think he could win on Friday. The trainer at Yarmouth didn’t want to travel with him and he was a dog I liked so I bought him. I bought him with idea that he stays and will find out on Friday if he does. If he doesn’t stay I will run him over four bends instead and we will see how it goes.”

Savana Taylor in the third heat of the maiden stayers competition at 8.03pm could spring a surprise. Trained by Henlow’s Jason Ray the September ’14 will need to improve on his recent trial over C&D and is more than capable to do so. The son of Kinloch Bare and Full Of Beans ran well in defeat at Henlow on Sunday in an open race and could be soon be on the winners podium.

Trainer Jason Ray on Savana Taylor said: “He will improve on his trial. We nursed him back from injury and he has 30 to 40 spots improvement in him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he cracked out and made all.

“He was unlucky at Henlow on Sunday when trying to come from behind but is a front runner.”

In a tough heat against Olympic finalist Huarache Scotty the 8/1 being offered by Bet365 is worth a dabble for the sole wide seed that is expected to improve.

Moving away from the stayers maiden competition, Killoughteen Bob in the first race on Racing Post TV at 7.12pm could go back to winning ways after injury. Back in August last year the September ’14 whelp won two open races over 400 metres from four clocking a calculated time of 23.97 in one of those victories. Tonight the son of Tullymurry Act and Skywalker Silk is available at 4/1 with Ladbrokes and Corals and if getting anywhere near his previous form that price should be taken.

On Killoughteen Bob, trainer mark Fenwick said: “He has ability and is a very fast dog.

“He came off lame at Henlow and we decided to give him a long break and let the bad weather clear. We have given him three trials at Crayford and he badly needs runs.

“He can definitely break 24 seconds again but whether that will be tonight we will see.

“He can be erratic at the boxes but has great back straight pace.”
