GBGB registrar Dave Levy reports that registrations of new greyhounds were down “around 400” up to November, compared to a similar period in 2017.

Considering that the 2017 total of 8,094 was up 490 on the previous year, and a seven year high, the final year figure would not appear a major concern considering the closure of both Mildenhall and Towcester.

The graph below shows the decline in registrations between 2006 (28 tracks 10,101 registrations) and 2017. There are currently 21 tracks operating under the rules of GBGB.
