The racing career of Scottish Derby and Laurels winner The Other Reg appears to be in jeopardy with a suspected broken hock.

Pat Rosney’s brindle clocked 27.81 in a 480m trial but was lame when walking back to the paddock.

Rosney said: “He has a swelling at the front of the hock and I am fairly sure it is broken. We have had him strapped up with the track vet though I was very disappointed that they didn’t have a pain killing injection available. I have been given some tablets, but they have to be given with food when we get home.

“We have big cages and the dog is comfortable for the journey home though we will try to source a vet first thing in the morning.”
