Hiya Butt remains unbeaten

Six Irish runners in quarter finals

Heat 1

Cloran Paddy clocked the fastest time of the night after giving a start and beating to Jaytee Dutch and Lenson Rocky. The Charlie Lister trained white who had been beaten in his previous seven outings had shown Sheffield racegoers early in the year that he had great ability if he could secure a clear passage through his races. On this occasion, the son of Westmead Hawk was quite brilliant as he reeled in the two Irish runners for a short head success in 28.02, the second fastest time of the event.

Hayley Keightley’s black has a very simple style ‘bang gone’ and he employed the same tactics to take take the third qualifier. He was followed home by the impressive Jaytee Jet whose ‘start slowly take them on the outside’ style almost saw him home. Oh for another 20 metres!
