Kent St Leger winner Antigua Fire and Roxholme Poppy share 5-1 favouritism in the SIS Yorkshire St Leger, which gets underway at Doncaster on Wednesday.

Mark Wallis’s Antigua Fire goes in the last heat and is perfectly drawn in six.  He is fancied to overcome the lack of a look at the Stainforth venue and can account for Affleck Bolt.

Defending Champion Roxholme Poppy, who exited the Kent St Leger at the semi-final stage can take heat five.

Hayley Keightley’s runner, who also won the George Ing St Leger at Yarmouth in the spring, is perfectly housed in six and can get first run on main dangers Pond Adonis and TV Trophy winner Bumblebee Bullet.

Droopys Live, a 10-1 shot, goes for a six-timer in the first qualifier.  Angela Harrison’s bitch has won her last four at Doncaster by an aggregate of over 23 lengths.  She’s got a good draw on the fence and can soon be calling the shots.

Droopys Tulip, who made such a big impression with a facile victory in a maiden event last week, can take heat two.  The Shawfield raider can keep out of trouble on the outside and account for Kent St Leger finalist Sheldan.

Pond Natalya, who won the British bred Oaks Final at the track recently, is fancied to take heat three.  Harry William’s bitch is perfectly drawn on the fence and can repel Champion Stakes winner Aayamza Express.

Strong stayer Goldies Hotspur could be the answer to a wide-open fourth qualifier.
