A story in the Oxford Mail suggests that the local council have included the former greyhound stadium in the Local Government Plan with a stipulation that it should remain leisure use, thus opening the door for the return of greyhound racing.

Should the landlords refuse to re-open the facility the council retain an option for a compulsory purchase of the site.

The Star understands that a potential greyhound promoter has expressed an interest to Oxford City Council.

The stadium has been closed since 2012, though planners have consistently refused permission to turn the site into a housing estate.
