Wuheida’s unbeaten run through last month’s £10,000 GMG Oaks at Belle Vue has earned Romford attached Phil Simmonds’ Classic winner the Greyhound Writers’ Association/GBGB monthly award.

Still a pup when overcoming a wider than ideal draw on a cold and snowy night in Manchester – on Sky’s final live show of 2017 – Simmonds is currently giving the Jan ’16 Head Bound – Droopys Thrill bitch a well earned rest before kicking off a 2018 campaign, the Derby at Towcester the main objective depending on any seasonal break.

Simmonds told the Star: “We know she runs Towcester well from the Puppy Derby, (her 29.28 was fastest of night at the 2nd Round stage) but was unlucky to find trouble in the semis behind the eventual winner Magical Bale. She was fantastic in the Oaks, and I was delighted to get the call from John Forbes (GWA secretary) recognising that success. My team along with owners Amy Hawes, Robin and Melissa Sharp are now looking forward to the GBGB Awards in London later this month”. Wuheida will be up against Geelo Sapphire and Rubys Razzle in the Bitch of the Year Category on the big night.
