A trio of runners dominated Nottingham’s Monday night card – and for three entirely different reasons.

Ballymac Defo (Definite Opinion-Ballymac Razl, Sep 16) retained his unbeaten Colwick Park record in the heats of a 480m puppy stake.  Angie Kibble’s blue clocked a flying 28.37 (+50). With the other heats going to Local Playboy (28.51) and Affane Buck (28.60), Defo looks certain to start favourite to make it seven unbeaten over course and distance.

Meanwhile over the extended six bends, local heroine Nanny Cakes (Kinloch Brae-Ardera Diana, Oct 14) confirmed her return to form by landing the £500/730m competition. Colin Wilton’s track champion was making her third appearance following a five month break and was never troubled when beating Princess Royal by almost five lengths in a ‘fastest of year’ 44.34 (+70). (Romantic Rambo’s clock is 44.11).

The night’s other star came on the graded card where Pete Harnden’s Salacres Lippy (Superior Product-Lithuanian Paula, Jun 16) completed a six-timer. The fawn pup’s sequence has come in A4-A3-A3-A3-A2-A2 with returns of between 5-2 and 7-2. The last four races have been recorded on calculated times between 30.86-30.96. A £1 win accumulator on all six outings would have seen a net profit of £3,527.
