Newcastle is celebrating the news that Gain Feed is committed to sponsoring graded racing at the track for another six months.

The deal will see the Irish greyhound nutrient company continue to sponsor one Saturday night meeting each month to the tune of £600 and add £50 to the prizemoney of their popular Race of the Week.

That will take the association between Gain and Newcastle into 2016, but Gain UK Business Manager Sean Traynor thinks it is likely to go on beyond that, saying: “We will revisit the sponsorship arrangement with racecourse operations manager Ian Walton in the New Year, but I don’t see any reason why is can’t continue. We are in the third year of this deal and it’s working well for both parties.

“We do sponsor open races from time to time, but we are very happy to make a major commitment to the graded trainers as they are the people who really need the money, particularly in the current financial climate.”

Walton commented: “By the time the current arrangement runs out Gain will have added somewhere in the region of £20,000 to our prizemoney and that is quite a commitment to graded racing.

“The sponsorship is mutually beneficial and I am delighted to be able to continue working with Sean and Gain Feed.”
