Natalie Savva, wife of Nick, and a big part in the Westmead success story, passed away after a short illness on Thursday.  She was 83.

Natalie, married to Nick for 57 years, held the trainers license for many years after they bought Westmead Kennels near Dunstable in the late 1960’s.

Success soon followed with homebred Westmead Lane winning the 1972 Cesarewitch at the old West Ham track.

Natalie loved the breeding side of the operation and the kennel has produced classic winner after classic winner over five decades.

Possibly the biggest success she had in her name as a trainer was winning the 1983 Trainers Championship at White City.

In the 1990’s Natalie took a back seat and the licence changed over to husband Nick.

She is survived by husband Nick, daughters Lisa and Nicola, and grandchildren Logan and Brady.

Funeral details are yet to be finalised.
