Incredible Flyer (Makeshift-Barley Bussell, Jul 15) recorded the fastest time of the year for Nottingham’s 680 metres when successful in a Monday night open.

However it took a sensational run for Pete Harnden’s British bred black (T3) to hold off Pat Rosney’s equally impressive 5-4f Looking Sharp who ran from trap two. . . .

The winner recorded a career best 41.27 (+90) and the distance was half a length. The track record is Fabulous Shanty’s 41.06.

Kilmore Lemon was the star of the re-race trials. Patrick Janssens’ National Sprint hopeful covered the 305m in 17.52 (ALL +10). Kilmessan Master (Hondo Black-Pretty Nicola, Nov 14) produced the performance of the meeting at Doncaster. Bob Welshman’s versatile fawn, who has open wins over four and six bends at Perry Barr, returned at 5-1 when winning by an easy six lengths in 29.40 for the 483 metres.
