Ballymac Micko took advantage of the withdrawal of the favourite Faydas Jet to land the final of the Maiden Standard over 400 metres at Romford on Friday.
Jim Reynold’s dog was left with a vacant trap on his inside and took full advantage when leading on the run-up to account for Pantone Whisper by just over four lengths in 23.92sec.
It was only the son of Ballymac Best’s fourth ever race and is improving at a rate of knots. He doesn’t turn two year old until April.
The time was bettered earlier in the evening by Hayley Keightley’s Roxholme Harvey, who landed his maiden event by almost seven lengths in 23.87sec.
Titchy Ron was a surprise 6-1 winner of the Maiden Stayers Final over 575 metres when making all the running to hold Fire Sand by almost two lengths in 36.00sec.
