Perry Barr racing manager Martin Seal has had strong feedback from connections as they look forward to Saturday’s St.Leger Final

He said: : “We enjoyed two cracking semi-finals, and I am so pleased with the quality of the final, which is just reward for those connections who entered the competition. Right from the start, every participating trainer I have spoken to was genuinely thankful the competition was staged, which is the most important thing.

“It takes a special dog to be able to show good early pace and yet stay 710m strongly and Dave Jeans’ Magical Icarus has both qualities in spades. Slippy Maggie lost touch a bit round the first two bends, so credit to her for showing sufficient determination to reduce the winning margin to two lengths. Ian Bradford is rightly chuffed to bits his Token Memory has made a Leger final.

“It was a battle royal up front in the second semi, the redoubtable Ridgedale Max setting a scorching pace, hotly pursued by the John Mullins pair of Minnies Highway and Rackethall Jess. Calico Ranger had started a little better compared to his heat run and a slingshot manoeuvre round the fifth and sixth bends saw him hit the front on the run in, thus denying the gallant Ridgedale Max. Minnies Highway ensured Mullins is again represented in the final.”
