Many of the big kennels are heavily represented in the Lawrence Jones Memorial meeting which takes place at Monmore of Wednesday.

Twice delayed, firstly at the request of the sponsor, and then by bad weather, the meeting featuring 11 opens, has possibly fallen victim to clashes with the Regency and Star Sports Greyhound Derby.

Nevertheless all events filled with the exception of the 684m contest, though the 416m has been duplicated.

Racing manager Tony Williamson said: “The first entry (for the cancelled meeting) was exceptional, though it was a different time of the year and less competitive. But it is still a very high class card, we have been well supported once again, and that first 416 looks an absolute cracker.”
