June McCombe is leaving Belle Vue to join the ranks at Doncaster. The Rossendale based trainer had been contracted to the stadium for over 30 years.

She said: “It has been a struggle to make ends meet at Belle Vue. We used to have 17-20 runners every meeting and are now getting around 25 per week.

“We are looking forward to the switch to Doncaster and will start off with around 30 dogs on the strength and hope to build up to 40. We plan to start trialling from Saturday. We will miss Belle Vue after all these years and may still run an occasional dog in opens there.”

Belle Vue boss Mick Hardy said: “I think the decision was right for both parties. We wish June all the best in her new venture.”
