Although all eyes were on the Irish Derby, there were a couple of other events coming to conclusion this week, headed by the Irish Sprint Cup won by Ardnasool Jet. Rosbirr Ranger also gets a nomination for breaking the hallowed 21.00 barrier.
At Cork, Newinn Lester duly delivered the Red Mills Unraced, though there is also a second nomination for Jan’17 pup Fahrenheit Lor, who recorded the fastest time of the night.
Given the volume of racing at Shelbourne Park, it always has two representatives and the fastest winners on the first two nights of the Derby Droopys Verve and Lenson Blinder duly collect them, but with puppy Jaytee Taylor mentioned in dispatches.
Acknowledgement too for the superbly named Deadly Dennis, the youngest and quickest Kilkenny winner this week.
