On the subject of flying Droopys, we should include Droopys Steel, who was just seven spots outside the Dundalk 400 yard clock in the Irish Sprint Cup, Droopys Denny with the fastest 550 at Lifford this year and Droopys Ant who recorded the fastest 525 of the year in the Southern Oaks at Youghal.
Crohane Ronnie will be looking to emulate Yankee when he sets out to defend his Tipperary Cup title next weekend. The veteran’s 28.59 semi win was faster than his winning time in last year’s Thurles decider.
The first round of the Red Mills Unraced was a showcase for some fine talent, though the fastest winner on the night was a November puppy contesting her tenth race, Ballymac Arminta.
