There is a deja Holland look about this week’s column. Last Monday we were concentrating on the ‘FON’ exploits of Wolfe In the Irish Leger at Limerick and puppy Newinn Taylor at Shelbourne. Roll on a week and both repeated their feats, Wolfe in the fastest semi final of the Leger and Taylor in a prestigious puppy stake.
Meanwhile Munster Juvenile winner Rathcoole Fox popped up with a 28.12 win. However the second Shelbourne nomination goes to Akelawre following an impressive first round win of the 550 yard Gold Collar.
There is also a second Limerick nomination with May puppy Coolavanny Kyser – a half brother to Jaytee Taylor, Ribchester and Boylesports Jet – clocking the fastest 525 of the week, 28.67. April pup Sporting Rita gets the Tralee nomination for a similar feat while Feb pup Kellsboro Sky was the week’s quickest at Waterford. Witches Houston, not two until January, ran the third fastest 525 of the year at Youghal.
Finally – another hound who has featured regularly in this column throughout the last year is Blame The Game. The Limerick track record holder had dipped below the Dundalk sprint clock in trials, and made it official with another superb 18.46 win on Friday night.
