Following an election count held today, the Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is pleased to announce that Paul Carpenter has been appointed as the new Owners’ Practitioner on the GBGB Board.

Paul will take up the post with immediate effect and will attend his first main Board meeting in September.

Commenting on his appointment, Paul said:

“In taking up the position of Owners’ Representative for GBGB, I look forward to working with the Board and committee members to drive forward the sport and, most importantly, to ensure that the views and ideas of owners are brought to the table.

“I have been clear all along that I want to be a voice for all owners, and I will be looking to establish a network of local owners’ representatives for each track. I am under no illusion that this will be an easy task but I very much welcome the challenge.

“Finally, I think Tom should be applauded for putting his hand up for the election. All of us want the best for our sport and for our greyhounds and I am delighted to have the chance to support the Board’s work on behalf of owners.”

Welcoming the news, Mark Bird, GBGB Managing Director, said:

“We are very pleased to welcome Paul to the GBGB Board. With 30 years’ experience as an owner, he brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge.

“Throughout his campaign, Paul was clear that he wanted to open up channels of communication between owners and the Board. We look forward to supporting him to implement this pledge as he takes up his post in order to keep our sport moving forward successfully.

“Our sincere thanks to Tom Steadman for standing in this election and to all owners who voted in the ballot.”
